Meet Kimberly

I've taught technical writing, hip hop, African-American rhetoric, public policy, grant writing, editing, document design, and composition courses at the post-secondary level for sixteen years. ​Prior to working in education, I had a career as a technical writer for several multi-national corporations and a smattering of non-profits.

My goal as an educator is to create an environment that encourages students to experience education as a practice of freedom that helps them realize their own potential.  In addition to my teaching experience, I have also presented extensively at conferences. As such, my goal as a presenter is to interact and educate the listening audience. My dissertation focused on the rhetoric of document design and textbook curriculum. My current research interests include Black maternal health and ethos, reproductive justice and Black rhetorics of health and medicine, and mental health and hip hop.
